Collapsible Organizer
Level: Advanced
Advanced projects can typically be completed with 2-5 tools. Assembly can be completed in 60 - 90 minutes, and we recommend 60 - 90 minutes for planning and personalization. This project is appropriate for students in grades 5 and above.
Objective: Build a DIY collapsible organizer
Students will use basic woodworking and joinery skills to build their very own DIY collapsible organizer. Along the way, they’ll practice hands-on skills such as aligning pieces, securing hardware, and ensuring parts fold and collapse correctly. Students will also have the chance to get creative by decorating and personalizing their organizers—making them a practical and unique addition for school supplies, craft materials, or bedroom storage.
Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:
What makes this organizer “collapsible”?
What did you learn about joining and assembling parts together?
How will you use your collapsible organizer at home or school?
