How it works

Tailored DIY Program Implementation

We’ll help you implement DIY classes into your existing enrichment programs, granting students hands-on learning opportunities to apply problem-solving and creativity skills all while exposing them to career pathway options in the skilled trades and reinforcing STEAM concepts.

Includes

  • Every program’s needs are different.

We typically work with program administration to determine (1) which grade levels should be offered DIY class, (2) how many days per week to offer DIY class, (3) the number of and duration of rotations or enrichment bursts to offer DIY class, and (4) resources required to integrate DIY class into the program.

  • After understanding a program’s needs, our team will take a thoughtful approach to designing a curriculum, schedule, budget, and timeline for the program.

We will then meet to review the proposal together to effectively gather feedback and make any necessary tweaks.

  • After aligning on the proposal, our team will begin manufacturing materials, sourcing and training local instructors, and developing enrollment marketing materials to support the program’s launch.

  • As with any new program, students and parents must first be aware that it has been made available to them. Our team will collaborate with you and your site administrators to offer educational information to promote student interest and enrollment in advance of the program launch.

In preparation for rolling out the program, we will have coordinated the details of (1) providing proofs of insurance coverage and other documentation requirements, (2) project kit and supply delivery, (3) project kit and supply storage, (4) instructor and site coordinator contact information, and (5) DIY class enrollment list.

  • While each program has different needs that may require adjustments to our methodology for evaluating impact, we typically leverage surveys, verbal recall, instructor & student interviews, and showcases & presentations to assess student skill & knowledge mastery and engagement.

  • Many of our programs are implemented in the form of a pilot first. Pilots can be designed for a specific site or school within a larger organization or district, a specific grade level, or even during a specific out-of-school time program such as a Spring Break or Summer camp.

Throughout the pilot program, we will collect observations from students, staff, and administration to identify areas of opportunity that require solving before scaling the program up. Our team collaborates with your staff to iteratively improve the efficacy of the program across class coordination, staffing, and logistics.
