Toolbox

Level: Intermediate

Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 minutes. We recommend this project for students ages 11+.

Objective: Build a toolbox

Students will use basic carpentry skills to build a toolbox. Students have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their toolbox, making them a perfect gift or storage bin for toys or desk supplies at home.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

  • What was challenging or easy about building your toolbox?

  • What might you store in your toolbox?

  • Why do you think we sanded the dowel before we placed it as the handle?

  • Why is it important to wipe off excess wood glue?
