Iron Desk Lamp

Level: Advanced

Advanced projects can typically be completed with 2-5 tools. Assembly can be completed in 60-90 minutes. We recommend this project for students ages 11+.

Objective: Build a desk lamp

Students will use basic electrical 110V skills to build a desk lamp. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and paint their desk lamp, making them a perfect gift or nightstand reading light.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

• Who created the first light bulb?

• What did you learn about building a lamp?

Supplies & Materials

The following supplies & materials are included with this project:

• Wooden base for lamp

• Water valve knob

• Black iron pipe for lamp body

• Lamp cord

• Lamp plug

• Small parts (nuts, bolts, screws)

• Sand paper

• Gloves

Art supplies and tools are not included but can be provided upon request. All required tools for assembly are included in our standard toolset.
