Bookshelf

Level: Intermediate

Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 minutes. We recommend this project for students ages 11+.

Objective: Construct a bookshelf

Students will use basic carpentry skills to build a bookshelf. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their bookshelves, making them a perfect gift or household decoration.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

• What was challenging about constructing your bookshelf?

• What books will you add to your bookshelf?

• How was building this bookshelf different or similar to other projects you’ve built?

Supplies & Materials:

The following supplies & materials are included with this project:

• Wooden sides and shelf for assembly

• Wooden spacers for shelf installation

• Nails

• Wood glue and Q-tips for application

• Sandpaper

Art supplies and a hammer are not included but can be provided upon request. A hammer is included in our standard toolset.
