Birdhouse

Level: Intermediate

Intermediate projects can typically be completed with 1-3 tools. Assembly can be completed in 45 minutes. We recommend this project for students ages 10+.

Objective: Construct a birdhouse and learn about birds in your area

Students will use basic carpentry skills to build a birdhouse. Students will have an opportunity to get creative and decorate their birdhouse, making them a perfect gift or household decoration.

Instructors then have an opportunity to reinforce learnings by prompting questions such as:

• What skills were required for you to assemble the birdhouse?

• What kinds of birds are in your local area that might stop by your birdhouse?

• How was this project different from or the same as other projects you have built?

Supplies & Materials:

The following supplies & materials are included with this project:

• Wooden pieces for birdhouse

• Chain to hang birdhouse

• Nails and screw hooks

• Wood glue and Q-tips for application

• Sandpaper

Art supplies, bird seeds, and a hammer are not included but can be provided upon request. A hammer is included in our standard toolset.
